Mtv Needs to Go Back to Videos

As Helen of Troy launched a 1000 ships Mtv can lay claim that they have launched a 1000 careers in their day both deserving and semi deserving. However, of late, the channel whose “M” stood for MUSIC instead of MORON has now deemed themselves worthy to launch careers for people that surely have no need to be famous whatsoever.

Cases in point, we can turn to those lovely people of “16 & Pregnant” and their follow up show “Teen Mom” that were suppose to show how hard it was to be a young parent. Except that they spawned a whole new generation of stupid teenagers that thought this how they can quickly become famous as pop-culture media followed the exploits of these so-called stars as they went out and found idiocy in all forms of having more children with their idiot partner that fathered their first or found more people to father children with, to DUI’s, to these personalities partying it up at some club while telling the media that reports it that they are somehow wrong and that they are good parents.

And in the latest case for bad decisions for Mtv, in their race to fill the void of idiocy from the departing “Jersey Shore” -because somehow we need more Snookies & JWows in our daily life- Mtv skipped past the vetting part of the process for their awesome show “Buckwild” where we get to see moronic hillbillies in action down at the swimin’ hole in the shadow of a nuclear reactor, fighting over who was fucking who, and seeing the outback townies go off to the BIG CITY like they were animals on display at the zoo. First off we had the drug arrest of Salwa Amin for felony drug possession a week after Mtv said that they were going forth with a second season (Salwa ironically is now back in jail for violating the terms of her release). And now just today (April 1st 2013) we are seeing reports of the show’s main star Shain Gandee, hours after he was reported missing, has been found dead. He was last seen heading out of a bar to go off roading with his uncle who has also been identified by authorities deceased along with a third person. Foul play in this case is NOT expected.

The fate of the show is not known at this time nor is what is next for the ex-video now creator of dumb pop-culture channel. But I am sure it will just as populated by stupid people. But, hell, I am ALL for it. It gives me plenty of fodder to write about both in real life & fiction. So, actually, I should be saying thanks.

I agree that we need more music on MTV. I feel bad for the family and friends of Shain. RIP.

When it comes to family, I feel bad. However, people, most times, have no one to blame but themselves and in this case is one of those times. Shain and his buds probably went off roading all the time after the bar and nothing happened. But like anything else it only takes one screw up and your finished.

Thanks for checking out the piece.
