Todd Harrell, Bassist for 3 Doors Down Arrested


Bassist for 3 Doors Down, Todd Harrell (41), has been arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide as well as Driving Under the Influence and Bringing a Controlled Substance into Jail that stemmed from an accident that [Todd] Harrell had late friday night.

Harrell was believed to be driving at a high rate of speed along Interstate 40 just outside of Nashville, Tennessee when he clipped a Ford Pick-up Truck. The truck, driven by Paul Howard Shoulders Jr., then lost control, hit a guardrail, then went down an embankment where it overturned. Shoulders, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. [Todd] Harrell’s car proceeded down the road and crashed into a retaining wall about a quarter mile from the scene.

At the outset Harrell showed signs of impairment and went under a field sobriety test. During the test Harrell 
admitted to officers that he had been consuming hard cider in addition to Lortab (a prescription pain med) and Xanax. Harrell was then taken to Davidson County Jail where it was discovered by authorities that [Todd] Harrell had another 24 Oxycodone pills, 4 Oxymorphone, and 8 more Xanax pills wrapped up in a plastic baggy in his sock.


Harrell is currently in jail in lieu of a $100,000 dollar bond and has a scheduled court appearance on Thursday.

The band (3 Doors Down) issued a statement saying that they were “deeply sadden by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders Jr.. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Harrell is no stranger when it comes to drinking and driving. [Todd] was arrested last year in Mississippi for DUI after he had another crash. In that crash he drove through an intersection which lead to an accident.   

Metro Nashville PD has stated that they have no further information concerning Harrell other than their website info.
