Once again we see that one of the alum for “Celebrity Rehab” has not only fallen off the wagon and is now in a coma.
Turns out Shifty Shellshock (Seth Brooks Binzer), front man for the band Crazy Town, has been lying in a coma since Thursday, TMZ reports, and is totally unresponsive.
Following his struggle with substance abuse, Shifty was one of nine celebrities featured in the first season “Celebrity Rehab” where he graduated from treatment with the other cast members in the summer of 2007, but subsequently appeared towards the end of the second season apparently suffering from a relapse. Looks like Shifty once again fell on hard times, only this time there was no one there to catch him.
However, I don’t know about you, but if I need rehab Doctor Drew is rapidly becoming the man that I DO NOT WANT TO SEE.
In the last 18 months members of Dr. Drew’s Pasadena Hospital for Recovery has lost some notable clients of the likes of Alice in Chains bassists, Mike Starr, and Jeff Conaway. Not to mention that back in 2008 Drew’s hospital was under by the California Department of Public Health for three other deaths unrelated to the show, one of whom was found dead just hours after checking into the facility.
So if you are wondering why “Celebrity Rehab” has been around it might be because they have had a poor track record. However, the show is neither canceled or in production. Supposedly VH1 and Drew have been in talks about a new season but at the moment there are no plans.

I wonder how people who have reached fame over the crowed still have step on to addiction. I wonder what happiness do they get from too much alcohol and drug addiction. Why do they have to give themselves an option to enter rehab when everything should've been fine.
I think when it comes to addiction in the music world & when it comes to fame it’s just to easily available. That, and go along with touring and trying to stay on top of their game. Although I think I his case that he had a drug problem well before making it big.
Then there are those arguments that say that helps in the creative process. Many believe the Trent Reznor isn’t as good off drugs compared to when he was on. But then again he has won an Oscar since being clean. Also I think that many believe that drugs are a part of what it means to be famous. They are glamorized by music and in videos and films. I, for one, use a lot of drugs and drug abuse in my fiction writing.
In other words, this is a basically a long winded: I don’t know the answer… lol… thanks for checking out the piece.
